Regarding Eligibility
Good day, is it possible that the eligibility criteria may be expanded, in the future (or for similar challenges like this) to outside of just selected USA states listed in the eligibility? I would be interested in participating; however, I am a Canadian citizen and resident with no United States of America citizenship/residence. Thanks for your consideration!

Thank you so much for your question about eligibility. The Reference Data Challenge is only for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, due to the legal authority under which my Federal agency, NIST, is conducting the challenge. Future NIST challenges may be established using different mechanisms that will allow for non-U.S. participants to contribute. Stay tuned!

I am also interested in participating, but am unsure of my eligibility. I am currently a SURF research associate at NIST. This internship ends 8/07/2015 and I do not have any other contracts with NIST after that. Am I eligible?

Hi Daniel, thank you for your question. As the rules state, "NIST employees and NIST Guest Researchers are not eligible to enter." Interested participants for this challenge should not be affiliated with NIST at the time of participation. To resolve any outstanding questions about whether participation is permissible, please consult with your agency ethics official.

Good day Heather, thanks for your quick responses and I intend to continue to watch out this challenge, and future challenges, as this, and others, develop and the possibility of the eligible group being expanded in the future (and/or future challenges). Thanks again!
