Submission
Hi,
For submitting native iOS applications, Apple offers ability to allow external testers to install the application on their devices using Testflight. Is there an email address we can use for the submission process?

Great question - Yes, use appchallenge@nist.gov
This is also detailed in the FAQs, if you want more info!

Hi,
I think there may have also been a question here about the text portion of the entry, and the 250 word limit described in the Rules. It's true that we requested only 250 words- however, the Devpost site does not have these word limits auto set, and they provide some interesting questions you might want to address in your text submission. The first 250 words will be considered your official entry to the Text requirement. Anything beyond that will be considered supplemental information. You are free to include that, but we cannot guarantee that anything beyond the 250 word narrative will be reviewed by the Judges.

There does not appear to be a place holder on the Submission page for submitting the app description. How do we submit the app description file?
Also, I assume the installation instructions, operating instructions and system requirements are all submitted in the "Testing Instruction" window on the Submissions page. Is that correct?

Hi Michael,
for the description, you should input your text in the box where it says "What's the story behind [ProjectName]?" The devpost site does not limit the number of words you may enter, so be mindful about the length. Anything beyond 250 words will be considered supplemental and may not be reviewed by the judges.
The installation instructions, etc. may be submitted in the "Testing Instructions" box you noted in your question, so yes that is correct.
If you have any other questions let me know!

Thanks Heather. How do we submit the screenshots of the app running on a mobile device (not the video).

When you go through the Submission page, you should see an area to upload your video, provide any links, and add graphics to your image gallery. The graphics should include at least one screenshot. Let me know if this isn't working.

Hi Heather, on the step 2 of the submission page: we're sending our app via TestFlight to the testing email - and wonder if that means we can ignore the "upload a file" and "iOS build link"
and leave those blank? Or is that something we should explicitly note in that section? Also, is there a way we can verify that the invite from TestFlight to install the app has been received? Thank you!

Annie,
If you want to know the status of your TestFlight you can email me directly at appchallenge@nist.gov with the name of the App, and I can confirm with you. I will also use the submission tool through Devpost to send you a message that your App Testflight has been received.
On step 2, you can ignore the upload if you don't have one. Go ahead and add that you have sent the app via TestFlight in the Testing Instructions. I believe you can just add our email in the iOS build link field (but I am not 100% sure).
Make sure you also complete the text field with 250 words (the "what's the story" text box) and upload a photo and video, to have a complete submission.
Good luck!

I cannot find the "What's the story behind [ProjectName]?" box. Where is it located? And I do not see see an area to upload video, provide any links, and add graphics on the Submission page. Where is that located also?
Thanks

Michael, take a look at this PDF linked below (starting on page 15). My phone number is 301-975-4525 if you want to talk to me about it directly, just give me a call. It sounds like you aren't in the right part of the site just yet: https://challenges.s3.amazonaws.com/nist/Webinar%20for%20interested%20participants%20in%20the%20Reference%20Data.pdf

Heather, thanks for the quick reply. We figured out where to put things before your reply. You just confirmed what we did was correct.

Hi,
We submitted our project but do not see in the submission list. As per the PDF we were not able to add the zip file. Please confirm our submission.
Thanks,

Hello, all of the submissions that were received have been posted, unless they were not complete. I am very sorry to say, I did not receive your submission. We are not able to add any new entries after the closing date of the competition. I hope you will participate in future challenges and stay interested in NIST data!

Hello Heather,
Thank you for the response. Our team had uploaded everything correctly as per the rules posted online. If we could know what was missed it would be helpful for the team.
Thanks,
Shen
